Democrat Voters Agree With Hasan Piker More Than The Party Itself
Hasan Piker is in the midst of another attack cycle, this time because Mallory McMarrow, Dem Senate hopeful from Michigan, equated him to being a neo-Nazi hell bent on spreading antisemitism.
This has led to a nuclear-level discourse about Hasan, mainly in the Democratic Party and Mainstream media sphere, saying it's a huge problem for anyone to associate with (or even speak to) Piker.
There are numerous issues with this discourse (including the clear undercurrent islamophobia against Hasan and Abdul El-Sayed, which reminds me of how people reacted to Piker's coverage in the wake of October 7th), but the main one is the absurd claim that Piker's views do not represent those of the Democratic voters and that people like him should be purged from the party.
If you actually listen to what Piker says, he consistently communicates values that are extremely aligned with the Democratic base. This includes raising taxes on billionaires (95% support), pushing for Medicare-For-All (85% support), Abolishing ICE (78% support), opposing US military force in Iran (77% oppose) and that Israel committed a genocide in Palestine (67% Yes).
All of these stances are popular among Dem voters, but they are consistently couched or openly rejected by Democratic leaders.

In addition to all these key issues, Democrats also align with Hasan on his support for Zohran Mamdani's policy agenda (which Hasan heavily pushed and supported throughout the primary and general campaign).
A YouGov poll last year measured national support for Zohran’s policies and EVERY SINGLE ONE had clear positive support from Democratic voters.

But here's the thing: these values that Hasan holds aren't just popular among Democratic voters: they're popular across Independents as well.
In those five polls I linked initially showing Democrats massively support Hasan's positions, every single one had net positive support from Independents!

And I think this is the real reason as to why Democrats are attacking Hasan as much as they are: he gives people hope to push for what they actually support.
The entire point of the Dem establishment is to promote the idea that these positions Hasan holds are both not popular and not electable. But Hasan and other left-wing voices are finally gaining the prominence to push back against that narrative, and that makes them scared.
If Hasan can help more candidates like Abdul El-Sayed win agains the candidate slandering him like McMarrow, he will become more popular and his message will more Democrats and Independents who agree with him.
And that's what the Dem establishment is trying to avoid at all cost...
